Catania remain in Serie A relegation zone

A 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari Calcio ensures that Catania remain in the Serie A relegation zone.

Catania remain in the Serie A bottom three having been held to a 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari Calcio.

Vlada Avramov was forced into a fine save in the first half to deny Catania the breakthrough goal, while Marco Sau had a chance of his own to give Cagliari the lead.

The opening goal came courtesy of Matias Vecino, who converted a rebound to give the visiting side the advantage after 53 minutes.

Less than 10 minutes later the Rossazzurri were level, as Francesco Lodi sent a cross into the box for Gonzao Bergessio to head home.

Danilo Avelar was dismissed for Cagliari with 20 minutes remaining, but Catania could not find a way through to score a winner, hitting the post twice through Bergessio and Alexis Rolin.
