Manager Chris Hughton praises "deserved" Brighton & Hove Albion win

Brighton & Hove Albion deserved to beat Blackburn Rovers, according to manager Chris Hughton.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has said that his side deserved the three points from their scrappy 1-0 win away at Blackburn Rovers.

Matt Kilgallon's first-half own goal proved to the difference between the two sides at Ewood Park yesterday as Brighton survived a second-half onslaught, to claim victory.

Hughton told BBC Sport: "I thought our game management today was very good. I know they've had a few problems here with injuries and the amount of games but they're still a very good outfit with a threat up front.

"Particularly in the first half, we kept the ball well in the periods we had to, defended well for 90 minutes which you know you're going to have to, and got a bit of fortune with the goal but I thought we deserved it overall.

"We're delighted with the progress we've made."

Brighton sit 16th in the Championship table, 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
