Graham Potter: 'There is more to come from Adam Webster'

Adam Webster put in a commanding display as the Seagulls grabbed a shock 1-0 win at champions Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Brighton boss Graham Potter believes there is more to come from defensive rock Adam Webster following his Anfield heroics.

Webster put in a commanding display, nullifying the considerable threat of Mohamed Salah, as the Seagulls grabbed a shock 1-0 win at champions Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The 26-year-old is even being mentioned as a possible new addition to the England squad when Gareth Southgate names his next one at the end of March.

"It's up to Gareth to decide, but we're delighted with him," said Potter. "I think he's taken some steps and I think there's still a lot for him to do which is exciting.

"He's not at his maximum but I thought his performance was sensational. He defended the box really well, was brave on the ball, some really important challenges and tackles. It was a first-class centre-back performance.

"He's got some fantastic attributes and he's a great lad who wants to perform well and help the team, so we're delighted."

Potter takes his side to Burnley next with the win over the Reds lifting them 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

"It's nice because it's what we're here for, to win games and get points," added Potter. "It's a process in the Premier League against top opposition to develop your game to the point where you can perform consistently and get the results consistently.

"That's the challenge with elite sport. We haven't achieved anything yet but it was a result that gives everyone a lot of pride."
