Half-Time Report: Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg still waiting for breakthrough

Borussia Dortmund and Augsburg fail to break the deadlock in a tight opening 45 minutes at Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund have reached the half-time interval level with Augsburg after a goalless first half at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund, searching for a win that would take them off the bottom of the table, were on the front foot in the early stages, and they came close to breaking the deadlock when Marco Reus evaded a couple of challenges to fire an effort just past the post.

Despite a bright start from the hosts, Augsburg looked confident for long spells of the first half as Markus Weinzierl's side attempted to take advantage of the nerves surrounding Westfalenstadion.

It looked like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had given Dortmund the lead when he diverted a powerful Reus strike past Alex Manninger, but the celebrations were cut short by the offside flag.

However, it would be Augsburg who came closest to breaking the deadlock when Paul Verhaegh was gifted the space to venture forward before unleashing a low effort which drifted a few inches wide.
