Preview: Benfica Women vs. BK Hacken Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Women's Champions League clash between Benfica Women and BK Hacken Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Benfica Women will welcome BK Hacken Women to Lisbon on Wednesday, with both teams still searching for their first victory in the Women's Champions League group stage.

The hosts collected a point from their opening two games, while Hacken are yet to get on the board after suffering two defeats.

Match preview

The group stage got off to a promising start for Benfica as they held German champions Bayern Munich to a goalless draw.

However, their fortunes changed in matchday two, when they came up against Lyon, the most successful team in the competition having won the Champions League on seven occasions.

Unfortunately for Benfica they were unable to cope with the quality in the Lyon ranks, with the Portuguese champions succumbing to a 5-0 defeat.

However, they have not let that thrashing disrupt their league form and they even dished out their own drubbing in the following game, by thumping Atletico Club de Portugal 13-0.

They collected consecutive victories by beating Torreense 2-1 at the weekend, and Filipa Patao will be hoping that her side can carry that form into an important European fixture as they look to score their first goals of the group stage.

Like their opponents, Hacken are also searching for their first goal in the Champions League group stage, having suffered consecutive defeats.

They were faced with the daunting prospect of hosting Lyon on matchday one, with the French side running out 3-0 winners.

Their task did not get any easier in the previous matchday though, when they travelled to Munich, and Hacken were unable to get on the scoresheet, with Bayern Munich putting four past the Swedish side.

Hacken will view back-to-back games with Benfica as the best opportunity to pick up points, but a defeat at the weekend to Eskilstuna United will not have helped their confidence.

The Swedish champions looked set to win 2-1 with Stine Larsen and Mille Gejl netting, but after scoring the opener, Felicia Rogic scored two further goals late on to seal a hat-trick and clinch all three points for her side.

Team News

Cloe Lacasse is expected to lead the line for the hosts, and she will be hoping to add to the three goals that she scored against FC Twente in qualification.

Meanwhile, Ana Seica will partner Carole Costa in the centre of defence, with the pair looking for their second clean sheet of the group stage.

Hacken are without Pauline Hammarlund and Anna Csiki, who are missing with knee and thigh problems respectively.

Mats Gren will also have to cope without the services of Loes Geurts, who is absent due to a concussion.

Larsen will feature in the Hacken front three and the Danish international will be aiming to score in consecutive games.

Benfica Women possible starting lineup:
Leticia; Amado, Seica, Costa, Alves; Faria, Encinas, Cameirao; Vitoria, Nazareth, Lacasse

We say: Benfica Women 2-1 BK Hacken Women

Both sides will view this game as a great opportunity to collect their first group stage win, but Benfica are in better form and have home advantage on their side, therefore we think the Portuguese champions will pick up all three points.
