Barnsley dismiss manager Keith Hill following today's 3-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Barnsley have dismissed manager Keith Hill following today's 3-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

The Tykes, who have now lost nine of their last 13 matches, sit bottom of the Championship table, four points from safety.

Club owner Patrick Cryne said: "Unfortunately, due to the recent string of results, we have decided to dispense with the manager's services.

"It is a results-based decision and we are bottom of the league."

Assistant manager David Flitcroft has also been relieved of his duties.

Hill took charge at Oakwell in June 2011 following the resignation of Mark Robins.
