Lionel Messi 'vetoes Nicolas Tagliafico approach'

Lionel Messi tells Barcelona not to move for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico this summer, according to a report.

Lionel Messi has reportedly told Barcelona not to move for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico this summer.

The 26-year-old only arrived in Amsterdam from Independiente in January 2018, but his form has captured the attention of a number of clubs, with Arsenal said to be preparing a move.

Meanwhile, according to Tagliafico's agent, Ricardo Schlieper, Real Madrid are considering a summer swoop for the left-back.

According to Don Balon, Barca are also in the hunt for his signature, but Messi has told his Spanish club to forget a move for the defender.

Indeed, the report claims that Messi, who has played alongside Tagliafico for Argentina, does not believe that the former Banfield youngster is of the required level to turn out for the Spanish champions.

Tagliafico has contributed five goals and five assists in 34 appearances for Ajax this term.
