Former Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o admits that he has 'suffered' while watching the Catalan giants this term.

Former Barcelona forward Samuel Eto'o has admitted that he has 'suffered' while watching the Catalan giants during the 2021-22 campaign.

Ronald Koeman's side are currently down in ninth position in La Liga, while they have lost their opening two Champions League group-stage fixtures against Bayern Munich and Benfica.

Eto'o represented Barcelona between 2004 and 2009, scoring 130 goals in 199 appearances, and the 40-year-old has conceded that he has struggled to watch the La Liga outfit this term.

"Recently, Barcelona have made me suffer," Eto'o said at Festival dello Sport di Trento. "These are tough times for those of us who love the club. It would be hard to accept group stage elimination in the Champions League. I still hope they can go through."

Koeman, despite the speculation surrounding his future, is expected to remain in charge for the team's next three matches against Valencia, Dinamo Kiev and Real Madrid.

Barcelona are on a run of just one win from their last six matches in all competitions.
