Ciaran Clark says that Aston Villa's Capital One Cup victory over Manchester City in September gives them hope of a win at Villa Park on Monday.

Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark has no doubts that his side can scupper Manchester City's title hopes when the two meet at Villa Park.

The Villans already boast one victory over the Premier League champions this season after beating them 4-2 at the Etihad in the Capital One Cup back in September.

The 23-year-old believes that there is no reason as to why the Midlands outfit cannot repeat the outcome on Monday night.

"It'll be a tough game," Clark told the Irish Examiner. "You know they are a brilliant side but we beat them in the league cup earlier on in the season and there's no reason for us not to think that we can't beat them this time.

"Our home support has always been brilliant. All the lads know that they will be right behind us in the next few home games."

Villa currently sit 18th and in the relegation zone in the table.
