Diego Simeone confirms interest in Arsenal-linked Thomas Partey

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone claims that "all the best teams in Europe" want to sign Thomas Partey, who continues to be linked with Arsenal.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has claimed that "all the best teams in Europe" are currently looking at the club's midfielder Thomas Partey.

The speculation surrounding the Ghana international's future continues to gather pace, with Arsenal thought to be keen to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Thomas's father recently said that the Gunners were not the only side looking at the 26-year-old, and Simeone has suggested that the Premier League club will face intense competition for his signature.

"Thomas is the one who best understands this position and the transition from defence to attack, shooting, scoring, providing assists and playing passes between the lines," Simeone told reporters.

"When he's at his best level consistently, he's so good that all the best teams in Europe are looking at him."

Thomas, who has scored three times in 36 appearances for Atletico this season, is thought to have a £44.5m release clause in his current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.
