Danny Murphy: 'Mauricio Pochettino under pressure at Tottenham Hotspur'

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy believes that Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure going into Sunday's North London derby.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has expressed his belief that Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure going into Sunday's North London derby.

Spurs suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss at home to lowly Newcastle United last week, with £40m striker Joelinton netting the winner for the Magpies.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Murphy believes that all is not well behind the scenes at Tottenham.

"There is uncertainty over the futures of Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen. I get the feeling Spurs is not the happiest place at the moment," he wrote.

"Although Arsenal lost at Liverpool, I think the supporters are fully behind Unai Emery and believe they can have a good season. Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino are under more pressure."

The Argentine's side have won just four of their last 15 Premier League matches stretching back into last season - one of the worst runs in the Premier League.

The future of Eriksen is hanging in the balance, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain linked with a late move for the Danish playmaker.
