Jack Wilshere on target as Arsenal's winning run ends with draw

Jack Wilshere scored the equaliser at The Hawthorns as Arsenal's run of wins came to an end at 10 games with a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Hosts West Brom almost went ahead in the 14th minute when Saido Berahino's shot took a big deflection but did not beat Wojciech Szczesny, who adjusted well to keep the ball out.

Arsenal were knocking the ball around confidently but could not fashion a decent opening and it was West Brom who struck three minutes before the interval.

The Gunners failed to properly clear a corner and the ball was returned to Morgan Amalfitano, who curled over for Claudio Yacob to powerfully head in.

The Baggies could have doubled their lead just after half time when Berahino picked out Nicolas Anelka in the middle, but the former Arsenal man failed to get a shot away.

The Frenchman had another clear-cut chance soon after but again he was wasteful, this time sliding wide of the goal with just Szczesny to beat.

Wilshere brought the Gunners level in the 63rd minute when his powerful strike from 20 yards took a deflection and flew past Boaz Myhill into the net.

Olivier Giroud had a chance to complete the turnaround with 15 minutes on the clock but he failed to successfully round Myhill.

A point is enough for Arsenal to reclaim top spot from Liverpool because they've scored more goals. West Brom, meanwhile, climb up a place to 12th.
