Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp is reportedly in line to return to the club as assistant manager to Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp is reportedly being lined up to return to the club as part of Mikel Arteta's backroom staff.

Arteta is in the process of reshuffling his coaching team following the departure of assistant Freddie Ljungberg, who stepped down last week to pursue a managerial career of his own.

Bergkamp has experience as an assistant following his time with another former club Ajax, although he has been out of the game since leaving the Dutch outfit in December 2017.

The Daily Mail reports that Arteta has lined up the 51-year-old as a replacement for Ljungberg as his number two.

Bergkamp is regarded as one of Arsenal's greatest ever players, scoring 120 goals in 423 games for the club and helping them to three Premier League titles and three FA Cups.

The Dutchman, who was a member of the 'Invincibles' side of 2003-04, is also honoured by a statue outside the Emirates Stadium.
