Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Sheffield United

Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome Sheffield United to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners had made a perfect start to the campaign before running into champions Liverpool on Monday night, taking the lead at Anfield but ultimately falling to a 3-1 defeat.

Mikel Arteta's side got revenge of sorts with a penalty-shootout victory at the same venue just three days later to knock Liverpool out of the EFL Cup, though, and they will now host a Sheffield United team without a point or even a goal yet this season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Shkodran Mustafi is not expected back until the end of this month at the earliest as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Pablo Mari

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Pablo Mari is expected to return to full training at some stage during the upcoming international break, although he will likely need some time after that to build up match fitness after four months out.

Emile Smith Rowe

Status: Out
Type of injury: Shoulder
Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Manchester City)

Sunday's match will come too soon for Emile Smith Rowe, but he is expected back in training soon and should be available again after the international break.

Gabriel Martinelli

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gabriel Martinelli is a long-term absentee for the Gunners, with the young forward not likely to feature until 2021 after undergoing surgery on his knee during the summer.

Calum Chambers

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Calum Chambers continues to edge his way back from the knee injury which has kept him sidelined for the whole calendar year so far. A return to full training this month is the target for the defender.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: October 4 (vs. Sheffield United)

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has been on the brink of a return in the last couple of games but fell short of the matchday squad on both occasions. He remains doubtful for this one and may need the international break to get back up to fitness, but Arteta may be able to call upon him if he really needs to.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Arsenal have no players suspended for this match.
