Thomas Vermaelen confident of FA Cup success

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen says that victory in the FA Cup final can serve as a platform for future success.

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has said that victory in the FA Cup final can serve as a platform for future success.

The Gunners have not won a trophy since 2005 and they will be looking to end their long run without silverware when they face Hull City at Wembley this weekend.

"It will give us a massive boost for the next few years if we can win the FA Cup final," he told BBC Sport.

"There's lots of potential in this team and it will give them confidence for the following seasons."

Arsenal will be playing in a record-equalling 18th FA Cup final this weekend.
