Heather Watson has reached the second round of the French Open with an excellent win over Oceane Dodin.
Last week, Watson won her first match in four months at the Nuremberg Cup and the British number two has continued her return to form with a 6-3 6-0 victory over her French opponent.
The opening stages of the contest were competitive but once Watson had established an advantage, it was near one-way traffic as the 26-year-old capitalised on an array of unforced errors from Dodin.
However, serving out victory proved a battle with Watson squandering four match points during a marathon sixth game in the second set and Dodin also missing four opportunities to keep her hopes alive.
Watson finally prevailed, though, as Dodin drilled a backhand long and progress through to the second round was secured in just 62 minutes.
Either Elise Mertens or Varvara Lepchenko will stand in Watson's way in the last 64.
