Midfielder Joao Moutinho says that Wolverhampton Wanderers did "a great job" in earning a 1-1 draw against Premier League champions Manchester City.

Midfielder Joao Moutinho has acknowledged that Wolverhampton Wanderers did "a great job" in earning a 1-1 draw against Manchester City.

Wolves took the lead through a fortunate Willy Boly goal, and City hit the woodwork on three occasions as they were forced to settle for a point at Molineux.

However, Moutinho has suggested that Wolves deserve praise for their performance, having secured a share of the spoils against the defending champions.

The Portugal international told Sky Sports News: "We had chances but Manchester City had chances too. We played really well, like a team with confidence. That is the most important. We did a great job today.

"Our plan was to do what we do in the week. All the days we train so hard to play against big teams and be ourselves. I think that is what happened here."

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo was pleased that Wolves were able to gain a result after resisting the temptation to use a defensive-minded formation against City.
