Winston Reid happy with West Ham United return

West Ham defender expresses his delight after returning from an ankle injury for Monday's 2-1 win over Sunderland.

West Ham United defender Winston Reid has expressed his delight after returning from injury for Monday's 2-1 win over Sunderland in the Premier League.

The New Zealand international, who missed last week's win over Hull City due to an ankle problem, started at the Stadium of Light as the Hammers claimed the points against the Black Cats.

West Ham are now 11 points clear of the relegation zone with six games left to play this season.

"I've had a tough couple of weeks - I was sick for a little while - so it was nice to get out there and play again on Monday," Reid told the club's official website.

"Obviously we've come to a place where they needed the points too, but we came away with the win which was really positive.

"They came back with a goal and we had to hold on and defend. At the end of the day we did that well enough and I think we can be pleased to get another important win."

West Ham are back in action on Sunday when they entertain Liverpool in the Premier League.
