West Bromwich Albion's Chris Brunt "disgusted" after getting struck by coin

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt says that he is "disgusted" after one of the club's own fans threw a coin at him following their FA Cup exit.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt has admitted that he feels "disgusted and ashamed" after a coin thrown from the crowd hit him on the face following the team's FA Cup exit at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after the final whistle of the fifth-round match, which ended in a 3-1 win for Championship side Reading.

After the game, Brunt told reporters that it was in fact one of West Brom's own supporters who hurled the coin at him while he strolled towards the visiting crowd.

"I was walking towards our supporters at the end, and they thought it was okay to throw a coin at their own players," BBC Sport quotes Brunt as saying.

"I'm disgusted. If they want to come forward and say they don't like what they've seen then that's fine. Fans are frustrated we were 1-0 up and lost - they paid a lot of money to come, but a small minority spoilt it. There were young kids there. I was absolutely disgusted and ashamed."

Darren Fletcher scored the Baggies' only goal of the game, while Paul McShane, Michael Hector and Lucas Piazon struck for Reading.
