Garry Monk: 'Swansea City will not fear West Ham United'

Swansea manager Garry Monk insists that his side will put the "fear" that cost them against West Ham last season behind them when they travel to Upton Park.

Garry Monk has insisted that Swansea City will not fear West Ham United on their trip to Upton Park for Premier League action this afternoon.

The Swans were beaten 2-0 by 10-man West Ham last time the teams met, resulting in then-manager Michael Laudrup being fired three days later.

Monk, who has been in charge since, told ITV: "That performance was the most I'd seen a Swansea side worry so much about an opposition. It really played into their hands and showed that we were fearing them where we had never feared anyone in my time before.

"We respected teams and their strengths, but we never feared anyone and we played with too much with fear in that game. But now we've got another chance to go back up there and put on a performance that everyone can be proud of.

"That's what I look for in my team, it's the minimum for me that we put a performance on and one that the fans are happy with and we are happy with. Hopefully we will rise to the challenge and get a different result to last year."

Swansea have won just once away from home this season, beating Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening day.
