Garry Monk disappointed after Franck Tabanou voices Swansea City frustration

Swansea City manager Garry Monk says that he is disappointed with summer signing Franck Tabanou after the defender voiced his frustration over a lack of playing time.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has said that he is disappointed with summer signing Franck Tabanou after the defender voiced his frustration over a lack of playing time with the South Wales side.

The former France Under-21 left-back has made just two appearances for the Swans since a £3.5m move from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in June, and is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football.

Despite that, however, manager Monk is disappointed that Tabanou opted to speak out about his issues.

"I'm just disappointed to hear those things, a player talking about those type of things," Monk told reporters. "It doesn't benefit the player in any shape or form. Franck knows very well what I expect from him.

"I have sat down with him and gone through with him what he needs to improve on. When he came to the club in certain elements I was surprised to see he wasn't at the level of others.

"The most important element was on the physical condition to play in the Premier League and to play how I want my team to play. I was surprised to see the condition he came in."

Tabanou was a regular starter at previous clubs Toulouse and Saint-Etienne, making over 30 league appearances in each of his last six seasons.
