Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier reveals that he is more "confident" and "mature" following England's run to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier has said that he feels more "confident" and "mature" following England's run to the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer.

Trippier was one of the star performers as Gareth Southgate's side surpassed all expectations in Russia, even scoring in the semi-final defeat to Croatia with a stunning free kick.

The 27-year-old emulated that with another free kick during his first game back after the World Cup last weekend, although he insists that he is not ready to wrestle for set pieces duties with Christian Eriksen.

"Coming back off the World Cup, I just feel more mature. I feel more confident. I just feel comfortable and I feel better in myself," Trippier is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"Fulham was my first game back and I felt good – especially when the free kick went in.

"Mind you, Christian usually takes the free kicks and if he fancies them then I'll stand back and say 'No problem. Take it, mate.' No way will I be fighting him for the ball. I'm not like that!"

Spurs will look to maintain their 100% start to the season when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.
