Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce reveals that Tottenham Hotspur are "nowhere near" agreeing a price for midfielder Jack Grealish.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are "nowhere near" agreeing a price for midfielder Jack Grealish.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from Villa Park throughout the summer, with Spurs one of several clubs credited with interest in his signature.

Speaking in a press conference, Bruce told reporters that talks are ongoing between the two parties, who are poles are apart in their valuation of Grealish.

"We don't want to lose our best players, but they're aware of course that everyone has their price. The best thing the [new] owners have been able to do is not let anybody go on the cheap," the manager said. "So if someone wants to buy our players, they are going to have to find a premium and make sure the owners are comfortable with it.

"We all know what football is, but at the moment Spurs haven't got anywhere near what the owners want to consider.

"So there is not a discussion to be had at the moment, because they're got nowhere near the figure they demanded."

Tottenham are yet to add a new recruit to their ranks ahead of the transfer window closing on Thursday.
