Christian Eriksen strike secures Tottenham Hotspur win

A second-half strike from Christian Eriksen guides Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Christian Eriksen scored a second-half winner to secure a 2-1 victory for Tottenham Hotspur against Leicester City in their Premier League match this afternoon.

Spurs took the lead in just the second minute of the game when Nacer Chadli found space to raid in down the left, and he found Harry Kane in the middle, who slotted the ball past Ben Hamer.

The Foxes almost hit back when Jeffrey Schlupp picked out Leonardo Ulloa on the edge of the area, and the striker was afforded space and time to fire an effort at goal, but Hugo Lloris managed to tip the ball over the bar.

Danny Drinkwater was presented with a great opportunity to fire his side level when he won the ball in the middle of the park and drove towards goal. From 25 yards out the midfielder struck a powerful effort, but his shot went well wide of the post.

Leicester had another good opportunity just before the break as Riyad Mahrez raided down the right and dug out a cross from Ulloa to head at goal, but his effort clattered off the post and was cleared.

In the second half, Nigel Pearson's men got their equaliser as once again Mahrez caused problems down the right flank, and on this occasion Ulloa was able to turn his cross past Lloris at the near post.

The Foxes could have taken the lead when they were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area, which Mahrez stepped up to take. His set piece had the power, but his effort smacked off the post and went wide.

The home side continued to have the better of the chances and Schlupp forced an impressive save out of Lloris as he powered an effort towards the top corner, but the keeper was equal to it to beat the ball away.

Leicester were to pay for their missed chances when Spurs retook the lead as they won a free kick on the edge of the area, which was curled into the bottom corner by Eriksen in the 70th minute.

Pearson's men had an appeal for a penalty turned down late in the game as Federico Fazio appeared the handle in the area, but the referee waved play on.

The home side piled on the pressure in the dying seconds as Wes Morgan powered a header at goal, but Lloris made a great save to tip his effort past the post to earn his side the three points.
