Preview: Southampton vs. Swansea City

Sports Mole looks ahead to this Sunday's Premier League clash between Southampton and Swansea City at St Mary's Stadium.

With free-flowing football expected to be on the agenda this weekend, Southampton's clash against Swansea City could be an exciting encounter.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have had a positive start to their Premier League campaign by snatching three wins from their opening six fixtures, one of which ended Liverpool's unbeaten run in the league.

After securing two wins on the bounce, the Saints could make it three and possibly improve on their sixth-place standing in the table, four points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

In contrast, Michael Laudrup's Swansea have had an inconsistent domestic period, despite their strong form in the Europa League, by picking up seven points from six games and placing themselves 13th in the table.

However, Thursday evening's 1-0 win over St Gallen in Europe could give them a boost heading into Sunday's encounter at St Mary's.

Michu suffered a head injury during the clash but he managed to play on, which suggests that the Spaniard will feature against Southampton, while Ashley Williams could be named on the bench following problems with his ankle.

For the hosts, Pochettino could name an unchanged team from the side that defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 last weekend.
