The 24 teams in the Championship now have 45 games of the season left after the 2014-15 term began with matches over three days this weekend.
None of the three relegated Premier League sides from last season could pick up wins, as Fulham and Norwich City lost to Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively, while Cardiff City earned a point at Blackburn Rovers.
Wolves were the only one of the three promoted teams from League One to pick up a win, with Brentford drawing at home to Charlton Athletic and Rotherham United going down at Derby County.
The most impressive result of the weekend came at the John Smith's Stadium as Bournemouth brushed aside Huddersfield Town 4-0 - a result that saw Mark Robins become the first managerial casualty of the season.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Watford, Middlesbrough, Millwall, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday)
One of the biggest surprises of the weekend was the Owls' 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion, but it wouldn't have finished that way if Westwood, on his debut, had not made a superb stop with his left hand to keep out another debutant in Chris O'Grady.
Cyrus Christie (Derby County)
Another player making his competitive debut was Derby right-back Christie, who has big boots to fill after Andre Wisdom's impressive performances on loan for the Rams last season. Christie began well by setting up the late winner for Jeff Hendrick on Saturday.
Gabriel Angella (Watford)
Watford got their season off to a flyer by seeing off Bolton Wanderers 3-0 at Vicarage Road. Angella, as well as keeping a clean sheet, also provided the assist for two of the goals.
Mark Beevers (Millwall)
Beevers scored the opener and kept it tight at the back as the Lions earned their seventh win in eight games at home to Leeds United.
Shaun Cummings (Reading)
A first senior goal for Cummings as he got Reading back into the game against Wigan Athletic before it ended in a 2-2 draw at the DW Stadium.
Chris Burke (Nottingham Forest)
Forest were able to sign one of the better free agents this summer in Burke and he showed why he'll be key this season with a rocket of a goal that sealed a 2-0 win over Blackpool.
James McArthur (Wigan Athletic)
Wigan, who we tipped to win the league in our season preview, had McArthur to thank for popping up with a late goal that rescued a point against Reading.
David Edwards (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Wolves needed just one goal to beat Norwich and it was a clever header from Edwards as he used the pace of Rajiv van La Parra to direct the ball into the far corner.
Matt Ritchie (Bournemouth)
What a way to start the season for Bournemouth. The Cherries scored inside the first minute and added three more to take their place at the top of the table. Ritchie crossed for Marc Pugh's early opener and also set up another.
Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)
Wilson scored two of Bournemouth's other goals and should have had a hat-trick, but missed from the penalty spot. Wilson is expected to score plenty and will need to as Bournemouth lost their top scorer from last season in Lewis Grabban to Norwich.
Daryl Murphy (Ipswich Town)
Murphy had a strong season with the Blues last term and started 2014-15 in fine fashion by blasting the Tractor Boys in front against Fulham before winning the ball back and setting up the second.
Numpty of the Week
Shaun Hutchinson: The new Fulham defender had a debut to forgot as Ipswich striker Murphy, who isn't the quickest, cruised past him for the opener before he allowed him to nick it in the corner in the build-up to the second.
Goal of the Week
Giles Coke (Sheffield Wednesday) vs. Brighton & Hove Albion: Some have questioned whether Coke meant this, but we think that he was going for goal when he shot first-time to win the game for Wednesday at the Amex. A pinpoint strike from the midfielder.
