Javi Baraja backs Juan Ignacio Martinez

Real Valladolid captain Javi Baraja backs under-fire manager Juan Ignacio Martinez.

Real Valladolid captain Javi Baraja has insisted that the players are fully behind under-fire manager Juan Ignacio Martinez.

Friday's 4-0 defeat to Granada left Valladolid in 18th position in the table, while they have won just three of their 19 league games this season.

"We're all in the same boat, we have to look for a reaction now and hopefully it will come with time. Hopefully this will be a turning point, that the game against Granada serves as a reason for us to smarten ourselves up and get ourselves out of this situation," he told reporters at a press conference.

"The team isn't performing as we'd hoped, neither defensively or offensively. This situation can't carry on and we have to change it amongst ourselves. For all that it has cost us to get to this point, we can't throw everything out the window. Hopefully what we've been talking about, will be reflected out on the pitch.

"The manager knows very clearly that he has to do to change the situation. We're also very clear that he's the boss. He has our utmost support and there's no other way but to follow his guidance. He's a very experienced man."

Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis sit 19th and 20th respectively in La Liga at the mid-way point.
