How Real Madrid could line up against Real Valladolid

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Saturday's La Liga clash with Real Valladolid.

Real Madrid will be looking to make it back-to-back wins at the start of the new La Liga campaign when they host Real Valladolid on Saturday night.

Los Blancos opened their 2019-20 season with a 3-1 victory away to Celta Vigo last weekend, with Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Lucas Vazquez scoring the goals for the capital giants.

Zinedine Zidane's side will now attempt to move onto six points in the division when they host a Valladolid team that impressively won 2-1 at Real Betis on the opening weekend.

Madrid triumphed in both league fixtures between the two teams last season, following a 2-0 home victory with a 4-1 success at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the home side could line up in their second league match of the new campaign.

POSS RM XI vs. VAL

Out: Marco Asensio (knee), Eden Hazard (hamstring), Ferland Mendy (knee), Rodrygo Goes (hamstring), Luka Modric (suspension), Brahim Diaz (abdominal)

Madrid will again be without the services of Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo Goes and Brahim Diaz through injury.

Key midfielder Luka Modric is suspended, meanwhile, after the Croatia international picked up a straight red card in the second half of the clash with Celta last weekend.

Dani Carvajal is back from a ban, however, and should return to the right-back spot ahead of Alvaro Odriozola, who is expected to drop to the bench.

Isco could replace Modric in midfield, but there are not expected to be too many more changes, meaning that Gareth Bale should continue in the final third alongside Benzema and Vinicius Junior.

That said, Vazquez is another attacking option for Zidane after coming off the bench to score against Celta, while James Rodriguez - strongly linked with a move away this summer - is also available.
