Marco Materazzi: 'Real Madrid, Barcelona favourites for Champions League'

Former Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi places Real Madrid and Barcelona as the two favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Former Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi has placed Real Madrid and Barcelona as the two favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Madrid are bidding to win the European Cup for a third year in succession, and the Spanish giants will face Juventus in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Barcelona, meanwhile, will take on Roma in the last eight as the Catalan outfit look to win their first Champions League title since 2015.

Materazzi has claimed that the experience of the two La Liga giants will stand them in good stead when it comes to challenging for the crown.

"I see the two Spanish sides [as] favourites to win the Champions League. Real and Barca are used to playing and winning in the Champions League," Materazzi told Omnisport.

Materazzi won the Champions League with Inter in 2010.
