Late Stephen Kelly header earns Reading 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest

A late header by Reading's Stephen Kelly, his first goal for the Royals, earns his side a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading seized a goal right at the end of their game against Nottingham Forest to ensure a share of the spoils at the Madejski Stadium, in a 1-1 draw.

Greg Halford's first-half header gave Forest the lead, but Stephen Kelly's first goal for the Royals in injury time denied the away side the win.

After a quiet start to the game, Jamie Paterson had a chance from outside the box on 24 minutes, but this was successfully blocked by the Royals defence.

Nick Blackman then nearly took the lead for the home side, but his shot missed the target.

In the 36th minute, an Andy Reid free kick looped into the path of Halford, who made no mistake from up close.

After the break, Forest would continue to threaten. Matt Derbyshire had two chances in quick succession for his team, while Blackman's 30-yard effort was well saved for Reading.

Derbyshire was on hand to deny the Royals with a last-ditch clearance at the other end from Alex Pearce's header.

Just as it seemed like Forest would return to Nottingham with all three points, a free kick from Royston Drenthe right at the death fell to Kelly, whose header beat Karl Darlow.
