New manager Steven Gerrard says that he was pleased with the manner of his side's 6-0 victory over Bury in his first game in charge of the Scottish club.

New manager Steven Gerrard has called on his Rangers side to bring a 'fear factor' back to Ibrox after beginning his reign with a 6-0 victory over Bury.

On Friday night, Rangers made light work of the League Two side with Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy, Nikola Katic, Alfredo Morelos and Zak Rudden all getting on the scoresheet.

Rangers now turn their attention to their Europa League qualifier with FC Shkupi, and Gerrard is keen for his team to become "difficult to play against" during the upcoming campaign.

Gerrard is quoted by the Daily Record as saying: "The performance was pleasing. It was exactly what we were looking for in terms of a good, strong, positive win full of energy.

"We also asked for desire and commitment and we saw lots of that, although it was the clean sheet that was most pleasing for me. We've spoken to the guys over the last 17 days about how important it is to be a difficult team to play against.

"Teams who come into this stadium need to start fearing Rangers again and what Rangers are about. I saw a lot of positives in our play, out of possession, and of course with the scoreline there was a lot of quality in it as well.

"There is still tons of work to do but in terms of a base and a platform for the players and the staff it's a case of so far, so good."

Rangers begin their Scottish Premiership campaign at Aberdeen on August 5.
