Alejandro Faurlin earns new Queens Park Rangers deal

Queens Park Rangers give Alejandro Faurlin a new one-year contract, despite injury troubles that have plagued him over the last three years.

Alejandro Faurlin has signed a new one-year contract with Queens Park Rangers.

The Argentine has played just 20 league games in the last three seasons for Rangers because of three anterior cruciate ligament injuries, but the West London club have stuck by him for another season at least.

"I have to say thank you to everyone at the club for keeping me here and giving me the chance to prove a lot of people wrong," Faurlin told the club website. "I just want to play football.

"I contemplated giving up after my last injury. It was really tough and I was in a dark place. Thankfully, I'm still here."

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand insisted that there was no sympathy when deciding whether to offer the central midfielder fresh terms.

"The way he fought back from his injury last season is all credit to him and he showed on the training ground during the final few weeks of last season what a talented player he is," said Ferdinand.

"If he can stay fit, which we really hope he can, he will be a big asset for us in the coming season."

Faurlin first joined QPR from Instituto in his homeland six years ago.
