Harry Redknapp: 'There is no added pressure'

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp insists that there is no added pressure on his side to beat Derby County in the Championship playoff final because of their wage bill.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has insisted that his side's season will not be a failure if they do not win promotion to the Premier League in the Championship playoff final.

Redknapp's side reportedly have a larger wage bill than Spanish champions Atletico Madrid and the club could be forced into making changes in the summer if they don't reach the top flight.

However, the 67-year-old is adamant that his side have done well to reach the position they are in after losing key players such as Loic Remy, Stephane Mbia and Adel Taarabt.

He told reporters: "At the start of the year, people were talking about wage bills all the time, but we had 18 players leave last summer, a lot of them we didn't want to keep, but there were a few we didn't want to lose.

"I think we've done quite well – we let those 18 players go and we were almost throwing a team together at the start of the season.

"How many more changes we make this summer will be up to the chairman, but the nucleus is there for a good team next year, whatever division we are in. It's a big game, but I don't want to go piling pressure on people, on players, on anybody really."

QPR face Derby County at Wembley for a place in the Premier League later today.
