Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe's value will drop to €40m (£34.8m) due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to French politician Daniel Cohn-Bendit.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe will reportedly see his value drop to €40m (£34.8m) as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The France international has been touted as a potential signing for Liverpool should Sadio Mane leave for Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane's side also said to be keeping tabs on Mbappe's future.

However, the outbreak of COVID-19 has thrown transfer dealings up in the air amid serious financial implications, and Daniel Cohn-Bendit, Member of the European Parliament for France, has claimed that Mbappe's value will plummet as a result of the crisis.

"After the coronavirus crisis is over, he [Mbappé] will not be worth more than €35m (£30.4m) or €40m (£34.8m) rather than €200m (£173.9m)," Cohn-Bendit wrote in his column for Quest France.

"And who will be able to buy him? This crisis will clean up the irrationality of professional sports. It is as if there had been a nuclear attack and everything has to be rebuilt, but at other bases."

Mbappe has registered 90 goals in 120 appearances across all competitions for PSG, and will see his current deal in the French capital expire in 2022.
