How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Angers

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up for this weekend's Ligue 1 clash with Angers.

Paris Saint-Germain resume their pursuit of a seventh Ligue 1 title in nine years against Angers at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel's side enjoyed another positive European outing during the week, beating Galatasaray 1-0 to ensure a perfect start to their Champions League campaign after two games.

However, the home side will be wary of the threat carried by Angers, who sit second in the table and just two points off PSG following an excellent start to the 2019-20 campaign.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how PSG could line up for the meeting with Stephane Moulin's side.

POSSIBLE PSG XI vs ANG

Out: Thilo Kehrer (foot), Julian Draxler (foot), Edinson Cavani (hip), Colin Dagba (muscle), Thomas Meunier (thigh)
Doubtful: None

With the talismanic Cavani still recovering from a hip problem, Tuchel will be glad to see Kylian Mbappe make a return to full fitness following a hamstring injury, with the youngster coming off the bench in games against Bordeaux and Galatasaray.

Moreover, Neymar will come back into the team having missed the trip to Istanbul due to the Brazilian serving the last of a two-match suspension in Europe. The 27-year-old has scored late winners in 1-0 victories over Strasbourg, Lyon and Bordeaux in recent weeks.

On the left, Tuchel is likely to complement Neymar's diagonal bursts with the wide threat of Angel Di Maria, who has four goals and two assists in all competitions so far this term.

Despite the likes of Leandro Paredes and Ander Herrera competing for spots in midfield, Tuchel appears to have settled on the trio of Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye and Marquinhos - a combination which gives the team an element of balance, which was hard to come by at times last season.

PSG will be forced to mix things up slightly when it comes to the defence, especially the right-back slot, with Meunier and Dagba, the club's first and second-choice players in that area, both sidelined with injuries, which paves the way for youngster Loic Mbe Soh, who played in that position during the 2-0 defeat to Stade Reims last month.

Over on the other side, Tuchel looks likely to pursue a policy of rotation and therefore hand a start to Layvin Kurzawa, coming in to replace Juan Bernat after the latter featured against Galatasaray.

With Mbe Soh, a central defender by trade, forced to play at right-back and Marquinhos now an established defensive midfielder, it seems inevitable that the first-choice pairing of Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe will be handed another start against an Angers side which has surprised a number of teams this season with its potency going forward.
