Stuart Pearce responds to Danny Mills criticism

Stuart Pearce responds to Danny Mills's criticism that he is 'not a great coach', which the Nottingham Forest boss puts down to a personal grudge.

Stuart Pearce has dismissed Danny Mills's recent criticism, where the former Manchester City defender said that Pearce was 'not a great coach'.

In his post-match interview following his side's victory over rivals Derby County, Pearce was asked about Mills's comments, to which the Forest boss insinuated that it was down to a personal grudge.

"I do apologise for putting Micah Richards in [Danny] Mills' place at Manchester City," Pearce said, according to BBC Sport.

The BBC pundit reacted to the comments by revealing that he was coming back from a broken leg at the time and was asked to play by the then City boss.

Pearce allegedly told Mills that he would 'never play for him again' when the full-back declined to play due to fitness concerns, according to Mills.

The 37-year-old still stands by the comments he made about Pearce, claiming that he is "not a great coach, not a great tactician and not a great motivator".
