Dougie Freedman: 'Resilience was key to victory'

Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman hails his side's defensive resilience as they fend off Reading before a second-half blitz secured them a 3-0 victory.

Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman has praised his side's resilience as the key factor in their 3-0 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Steve Clarke's side had the better of the first half as they put the visitors under pressure towards the break, but Forest proved to be resolute in defence to hold out.

After the restart, Ben Osborn fired Freedman's men ahead in the 50th minute, while strikes later in the half from Matty Fryatt and Gary Gardner secured them the three points.

Freedman told the club's official website: "The last 15 minutes of the first half epitomised what we're about. Reading were certainly the team on top. We needed to show resilience and organisation in our defending. That's what really won the game today.

"We had to change at half time. We made sure we played ten yards higher up the field, which gave us a little bit more of an attacking threat. I think we were worthy winners in the end."

Forest earned their fifth win in six matches under Freedman and are now ninth in the Championship table.
