Billy Davies not thinking about possible promotion from Championship

Billy Davies says that promotion is not on his mind after Nottingham Forest record a 2-0 win against Queens Park Rangers.

Billy Davies has revealed that he is not thinking about promotion, despite steering Nottingham Forest to fifth in the Championship.

Forest beat Queens Park Rangers 2-0 on Boxing Day to record their fifth home win of the season, but Davies said that he will leave the job of talking up his side's promotion hopes to the media.

"Don't get concerned about being in the top six or not being in the top six, it is the Championship, it is a marathon. Let's look at the stats in March," Davies told Sky Sports News.

"The press's aim is promotion, we have never mentioned that, we are a progressing club and we know ourselves that we will continue to work on that progress."

However, despite not getting over-excited about Forest's current league position, Davies was delighted with his players' performance against QPR.

"In the first half we were excellent, we created a host of chances again and we should have had the game dead and buried by half time," he added.

"We thoroughly deserved three points, regardless of the second goal. We will enjoy the three points and look forward to another difficult game."

Forest play Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.
