Preview: Norwich City vs. Charlton Athletic

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Norwich City and Charlton Athletic at Carrow Road.

Championship leaders Norwich City will attempt to extend their lead at the top of the table when they welcome unbeaten Charlton Athletic to Carrow Road on Tuesday.

The Canaries lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening weekend of the season, but have since taken 20 points to sit atop the league table after nine matches.

They will enter this match off the back of a 3-1 win over Blackpool at the weekend, but they were held to a 2-2 draw by Birmingham City in their last league match in this stadium.

Their form on the road has taken them to the summit, with four wins from five matches, but they are unbeaten on their own patch this season, taking eight points from an available 12.

Charlton, however, are one of just two unbeaten sides in the Championship this season, the other being Nottingham Forest.

They have won just three of their nine games, however, with six draws giving them a total of 15 points, with that tally enough to sit eighth in the table.

They will enter the match off the back of a credible goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the weekend, but they have not won on the road this term, drawing all four of their matches.

Due to the proximity in the top half of the table at this stage of the campaign, a win for Charlton would almost certainly take them into the playoffs, while defeat for Norwich could see them drop to third depending on other results.

Norwich boss Neil Adams is unlikely to make too many changes from the weekend, with Cameron Jerome once more leading the line with support from summer signing Lewis Grabban.

Jonny Howson and Josh Murphy, who scored against Blackpool, are both pushing for starts, but Adams could decide to stick with the same XI.

For Charlton, Franck Moussa is pushing for a start in midfield, while Lawrie Wilson could also come into the back four. No injuries have been reported at this stage, however, and therefore any changes would be tactical rather than enforced.
