Alex Neil: 'Norwich City deserved nothing at Southampton'

Norwich City manager Alex Neil admits that his side deserved to leave Southampton empty-handed following their 3-0 defeat at St Mary's.

Norwich City manager Alex Neil has claimed that his side didn't deserve anything from their 3-0 defeat at Southampton on Sunday.

The Canaries saw Steven Whittaker sent off on the half-hour mark before a strike by Graziano Pelle on the stroke of half time and a Dusan Tadic brace saw the Saints clinch all three points comfortably.

Neil told BBC Sport after the game: "The manner in which we relinquished the away record was disappointing. That wasn't like us. We didn't start well, even 11 against 11 we were poor, our use of the ball was poor.

"I think Whittaker's first yellow was a bit soft, he was just trying to get back in position, but they were silly decisions and they cost us. We didn't deserve anything from the game and we need to be better for the next match."

Norwich would have set a new unbeaten away league record of 13 consecutive games had they claimed a result at St Mary's.
