Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is being held in isolation over coronavirus fears.
The striker had planned to return to his native Togo in order to be with his family, although a stopover in Benin means that he will undergo 15 days of self-isolation as a precautionary measure.
The 36-year-old currently plays for Paraguayan side Olimpia Asuncion, who released a statement regarding the incident.
"Emmanuel Adebayor made the decision to return to his country to spend the government-declared quarantine time," the statement read.
"As an institution, we have informed him of the risks that this entails, but his decision was to spend this time with his family."
Adebayor scored 97 times in the Premier League between 2006 and 2016.
