Newcastle United are readying a bid for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Newcastle United have readied a bid for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, but following an injury-hit campaign, those rumours have faded away in recent months.

Due to his fitness issues this year, the England international has started just 12 Premier League matches so far this season, scoring three goals.

However, such problems have not deterred the Magpies from preparing an offer at the end of the season according to The Telegraph, who report that Calvert-Lewin is at the top of their striker transfer targets.

The Merseyside club do find themselves in a strong position with his contract not due to expire until June 2025, although this could alter significantly were the Toffees to suffer relegation to the Championship.

Calvert-Lewin and Everton are next in action at home to Brentford on Sunday, although the striker has had to settle for a place amongst the substitutes in each of the last three fixtures despite recently returning from injury for Frank Lampard's side.
