Top 10 Premier League strikers of all time - #2

Sports Mole's countdown of the top 10 Premier League strikers of all time continues with number two - Alan Shearer.

Still the Premier League's leading scorer, none of the legendary strikers on this list has got close to matching Alan Shearer's mammoth tally of 260 goals in the competition.

One of only two players to win the Golden Boot in three successive seasons, Shearer found the back of the net a whopping 112 times in just 138 games during the first four Premier League campaigns.

All of those came with Blackburn Rovers - with whom he won the title in 1994-95 - but Shearer is most strongly associated with his boyhood club Newcastle United.

The former England captain did not quite reach the same dizzying goalscoring heights at St James' Park, breaking the 20-goal barrier four times in 10 seasons and never making it past 25 in a campaign having hit 30+ in three successive seasons at Ewood Park.

However, the beloved Geordie's decade-long spell in the North-East still yielded 206 goals across all competitions, including 148 in 303 Premier League outings to leave him well clear of any challengers in the division's history.
