Manchester United reportedly place RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner on their shortlist ahead of the January transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly pinpointed RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as a target ahead of the January transfer window.

The Germany international has scored 50 Bundesliga goals across the last three full seasons, adding seven more in all competitions so far this term.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of reinforcements up front, having dispensed with and failed to replace attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.

According to the Transfer Window Podcast, United have identified the Leipzig striker as a potential candidate in preparation for the January window.

Ousmane Dembele, whom Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde is apparently willing to sell, and Lyon's Moussa Dembele are also said to be on the club's shortlist.

United's troubles in front of goal have been highlighted by the fact that a 4-0 opening day win over Chelsea serves as the only time that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have scored more than once in 12 games.
