Timo Werner has reportedly decided to fight for his place at RB Leipzig and ruled out the possibility of a move to Manchester United in January.

Werner is no stranger to the Premier League, having spent two years at Chelsea before returning to the Bundesliga last August.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, the striker recorded 23 goals and 21 assists in 89 appearances.

The Germany international had emerged as a surprise target for Man United leading up to the January transfer window, though no formal offer has been made.

However, according to Sky Sports Germany, Werner has since confirmed that he is prepared to remain in Leipzig and fight for his place rather than move to Old Trafford in the next window.

The 27-year-old scored 16 goals in his first season back at Leipzig but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this term following the signings of Benjamin Sesko and Lois Openda.

Werner has made 13 appearances for Leipzig this season, though only three of those were in the starting lineup, and he has only found the net twice so far this term.

Despite bringing in Rasmus Hojlund for £72m in the summer, Man United have been widely reported to be keen on bolstering their squad in the next transfer window.
