Luke Shaw in talks for new Manchester United deal?

Luke Shaw is reportedly in talks with Manchester United over signing a new long-term deal.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is reportedly in talks with the club over the possibility of signing a new long-term deal.

The 22-year-old has faced an uncertain future over the last 18 months following Jose Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford, with the manager having publicly criticised his performances in the past.

The England international has won the Portuguese round in recent months, however, and last month Mourinho described him as one of the best left-backs in the world.

According to The Sun, with Mourinho's blessing Shaw has now started talks over a new long-term deal at the club, with his current terms due to expire at the end of next season.

"Luke has had a series of one-on-one chats with the boss," a source told the newspaper. "He told him he will sanction an extended deal if he can continue to improve and make his mark.

"It's an amazing turnaround for him after everything that's happened. Luke is in a much better frame of mind now.

"He feels he has a future here despite everything that has been said and talked about."

Shaw was signed by Mourinho's predecessor Louis van Gaal from Southampton in a £30m deal in 2014.
