Manchester United are reportedly preparing a new contract offer for David de Gea as the goalkeeper enters the final year of his current deal at Old Trafford.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is ready to listen to a fresh contract offer from the club, according to a report.

The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his current deal at Old Trafford, and talks over an extension have so far proved unsuccessful despite United's desire to keep him.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have been linked with a move for De Gea, while Real Madrid have held a long-standing interest in the Spain international.

However, The Telegraph reports that United will not allow the shot-stopper to leave the club this summer, even if that means losing him on a free transfer next year.

The Red Devils remain hopeful that they will find a breakthrough in negotiations and plan to make a new proposal in a bid to end a standoff which has now dragged on for around 18 months.

De Gea's wage demands are understood to have been the main sticking point in previous discussions, with the goalkeeper asking for a deal close to the £500,000 per week earned by Alexis Sanchez - more than double De Gea's current salary.

The four-time United player of the season is willing to listen to new terms but believes that he deserves a wage which reflects his status as one of the club's most important players.
