Mauricio Pochettino has not given up hope of replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, according to a report.

Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly not given up hope of becoming Manchester United's new head coach.

The 47-year-old, who was sacked as Tottenham Hotspur boss in November 2019 after a lacklustre start to the season, is still without a club despite being linked with a number of positions in recent months.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains in charge of the Red Devils, but the team's inconsistency during the 2019-20 campaign means that the Norwegian's future continues to be called into question.

United have dropped to eighth position in the Premier League table, still six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea but just four points ahead of 13th-placed Southampton.

According to The Mirror, Pochettino is still hopeful of receiving a call from the 20-time English champions to become their new manager for the 2020-21 campaign.

The report claims that failing to finish in the top six this term could lead the club's American owners to decide that a change needs to be made ahead of next season.

United will be looking for just their second league victory of 2020 when they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on top-four rivals Chelsea on February 17.
