Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is Manchester United's first choice to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to a report.

Manchester United have identified Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino as their number one candidate to become the club's next permanent head coach.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by the Red Devils on Sunday, with Michael Carrick placed in charge while the club look for an interim manager until the end of the season.

As a result, Man United will seemingly not be appointing a long-term manager until next summer, with Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers and Ajax's Erik ten Hag mentioned as possible candidates.

However, according to Sky Sports News, Pochettino is viewed by the 20-time English champions as their first choice for the position.

The 49-year-old managed Southampton during the 2013-14 campaign before moving to Tottenham, where he spent more than five years before being relieved of his duties.

Pochettino, who has a contract with PSG until June 2023, led Spurs to the 2019 Champions League final during his time with the North London club.
