Rio Ferdinand plays down defeat

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand refuses to dwell on the club's 1-0 defeat to Singha All Star XI on Saturday.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has refused to be too downhearted despite the club's 1-0 defeat to Singha All Star XI on Saturday.

The former England international, who was part of the side that lined up in United's first match of pre-season, is now looking forward to continuing preparations in Australia.

"You just go out there and play off the cuff. We know what we are getting when we play out here. On to the next one now," he told MUTV.

"It has been good. Thailand is a fantastic country, it is just about getting fit and getting to know each other. It is the beginning. We now look forward to a good week [in Australia]."

Next up for United is a clash against A-League All Stars on July 20.
